How to better reduce metal loss during aluminum melting and casting? (i.e. reduce casting loss)?

Release time:2024-04-11 14:43 Views:

Since aluminum and aluminum alloys are easily oxidized, alumina is an insoluble solid and cannot be recycled and reused. Will greatly reduce the melting loss of aluminum melting furnaceand scum will also be formed on the surface of the molten aluminum, which has a certain wettability and is mixed with melt.

Double chamber melting furnace

Its main external manifestations can be divided into two parts: one: pure aluminum ash, and two: large pieces of aluminum, defective aluminum, and aluminum slag. Affected by factors such as ① temperature of molten aluminum, ② contact strength between molten aluminum and oxygen, ③ molten aluminum brought out by slag removal, ④ amount of defective aluminum and large pieces of  aluminum, reducing casting loss must start from the above factors.

Control liquid aluminum temperature:For units that directly use liquid aluminum in electrolytic cells, when high-temperature aluminum liquid enters the mixing furnace, cold materials should be added in time: defective aluminum, aluminum slag, etc. can also be added into the furnace in advance. , forming a pressure-melted state, which not only increases the actual yield but also reduces the temperature.

Reduce the contact between liquid aluminum and air: Arrange the melting and casting equipment reasonably and shorten the length of the launder as much as possible to reduce the exposure time of liquid aluminum to the air. At the same time, the upper part of the launder can be covered with an aluminum silicate insulation board, which has a certain insulation effect and It can reduce the oxygen content in the launder.

Effective treatment of aluminum slag during the process:The aluminum slag is repeatedly ground and screened using a roller to effectively recover part of the aluminum slag. Strictly control the quality of slag removal to prevent liquid aluminum from being taken out. It is recommended to open several rows of small round holes on the surface of the large rake so that the liquid aluminum contained in the aluminum slag can flow into the furnace.

During the process of melting and casting aluminum in an aluminum melting furnace, methods to reduce metal loss may need to be adjusted and optimized based on actual conditions and process characteristics. Casting loss is inevitable, but it can be reduced through various measures, bringing better economic benefits to the enterprise.
